Preserving Lives Through Legacy Stories

Target Start Date: Ongoing each spring and fall

Volunteers Capture Memories That Connect Generations

The Legacy in Stories Project connects volunteers with senior citizens in the Hesston and Newton areas to help preserve their life stories for future generations. Volunteer interviewers typically conduct four to five one-hour interviews, capturing meaningful memories and experiences on an app designed by Life Bio Memory. The editing team then takes the audio from the app and transcribes this to text using HIPAA approved AI technology. The volunteers then assist with reviewing the transcriptions for accuracy. After this initial process, the editing staff completes the remaining work to produce a polished narrative that can be shared with families as a lasting legacy while strengthening connections across generations. This project is supported by local grants.
